Registered Behavior Technician

About the Role:

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) plays a critical role in delivering applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to individuals with developmental disabilities, primarily focusing on children with autism spectrum disorder. This position involves implementing behavior intervention plans designed by Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) to improve clients' social, communication, and learning skills. The RBT works directly with clients in various settings, including homes, schools, and clinics, ensuring consistent and effective therapy sessions. Success in this role requires strong observational skills, patience, and the ability to adapt interventions to meet individual client needs. Ultimately, the RBT contributes to meaningful improvements in clients' quality of life by supporting their developmental progress through evidence-based behavioral techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of the RBT 40-hour training program as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
• Successful passage of the RBT certification exam.
• Ability to pass background checks and meet any state-specific licensing or regulatory requirements.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities.
• Previous experience in an ABA therapy setting or related healthcare environment.
• Additional certifications or training in behavior analysis or special education.
• Familiarity with data collection software and electronic health records.
• Bilingual abilities to support diverse client populations.

Responsibilities:

• Implement individualized ABA therapy programs under the supervision of a BCBA.
• Collect and record accurate data on client behaviors and progress during therapy sessions.
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for clients during all interactions.
• Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure consistency in treatment approaches.
• Participate in ongoing training and supervision to maintain certification and improve clinical skills.

The RBT utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to engage clients effectively and collaborate with supervisors and families.
