Assistant Controller
Location: ABSS – Gilbert, AZ
Reports To: Corporate Controller
Position Overview
Support the company’s financial operations by preparing financial information and reports to maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial activities.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information for multiple subsidiaries
- Responsible for reviewing and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts
- Income statement analysis
- Ensure timely month-end close
- Assist in processing Federal and multi-state payroll taxes and reporting
- Commissions and bonus calculations
- Assist with annual audit process
- Assist with weekly 401K and HSA reporting
- Track customer rebates
- Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
- Work with the accounting team to cross-train in all areas of the department
- Ad hoc analysis and projects as requested
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 5 years of accounting experience
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end / year-end close process
- Strong financial analysis skills
- Ability to analyze and manipulate data and resolve problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization, planning and prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to change
- Deadline driven
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of NetSuite a plus
- Knowledge of multi-state payroll tax a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to train and manage staff
