We’re looking for a Cardiovascular/Thoracic surgeon to provide locum tenens call coverage in Ogden, Utah, at a Level II Trauma Center. This role is ideal for a surgeon comfortable managing both cardiac and thoracic cases, handling independent call responsibilities, and working within a team-oriented hospital environment.
What to expect
- Schedule: 24-hour call coverage.
- Trauma level: Level II Trauma Center.
- EMR: Meditech.
- Typical patient volume: ~10–12 patients per week.
- Consults: ~3–5 per week.
- Surgical volume: ~1–3 cases per week (usually 1 cardiac case and 2–3 thoracic cases).
- Annual cardiac volume: ~80 heart cases per year.
- The hospital provides a vein harvest team.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour call coverage for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery patients.
- Evaluate and manage pre‑ and post‑operative care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients.
- Perform cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures as needed.
- Respond to consults and offer surgical recommendations.
- Collaborate closely with hospital staff and the surgical care team.
- Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Meditech.
Required qualifications
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery.
- Active Utah medical license and Utah DEA registration.
- Demonstrated experience performing both cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures.
- Comfortable providing independent call coverage in a Level II Trauma Center.
