We operate a high-volume logistics and warehouse operation in Homestead, FL, including Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) activity supporting imports and exports.
We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator / FTZ Specialist to strengthen our logistics team and ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in all FTZ-related operations.
Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator / FTZ Specialist is responsible for coordinating day-to-day logistics activities and managing the administrative and compliance aspects of our FTZ operations. This role acts as a key link between:
- Warehouse operations
- Customs brokers and carriers
- Internal departments (purchasing, sales, accounting)
The ideal candidate has practical logistics experience, strong FTZ and customs documentation knowledge, and excellent attention to detail, especially when dealing with high-value electronics and inventory records.
Key Responsibilities
1. FTZ Operations & Compliance
- Coordinate and monitor all Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) activity, including:
- FTZ admissions and withdrawals
- Zone status changes (e.g., non-privileged, privileged foreign, domestic)
- Weekly entries and related filings
- Work closely with customs brokers to ensure accurate and timely submission of documentation.
- Maintain and update FTZ records and reports in accordance with U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) requirements.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring documentation, inventory records, and processes are in full compliance.
- Assist in maintaining and updating FTZ procedures and SOPs.
2. Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, including ocean, air, and ground transportation.
- Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to schedule pickups, deliveries, and resolve issues.
- Prepare and review shipping documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, BOLs, and other export/import paperwork.
- Track shipments, monitor delivery status, and proactively address delays, exceptions, or discrepancies.
- Support the warehouse team with dock scheduling, load plans, and daily shipment priorities.
3. Inventory & Systems
- Work with the company’s WMS/ERP system to:
- Update inventory movements and FTZ status
- Verify on-hand quantities in FTZ vs. non-FTZ locations
- Support regular and cycle inventory counts, reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Investigate and help resolve inventory discrepancies related to FTZ and non-FTZ stock.
- Generate and maintain regular logistics and FTZ reports for management (inventory, inbound/outbound volumes, exceptions).
4. Cross-Functional Communication
- Coordinate daily with:
- Warehouse / Operations – regarding inbound receipts, outbound shipments, and FTZ storage locations.
- Purchasing – regarding incoming POs, expected arrivals, and documentation.
- Sales & Customer Service – regarding shipping dates, special requirements, and export orders.
- Accounting/Finance – on duties, fees, and FTZ-related financial impacts where applicable.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with both internal stakeholders and external partners.
Requirements
- 2–3 years of experience in logistics, distribution, or import/export operations.
- Hands-on experience with FTZ operations or strong exposure to customs and international logistics (FTZ experience strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations, FTZ concepts, and import/export documentation.
- Experience working with WMS / ERP systems and logistics/transportation platforms.
- Strong Excel skills (filters, sorting, basic formulas; experience with VLOOKUP or similar is a plus).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; comfortable working with large volumes of data and documentation.
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal – with the ability to work effectively across departments and with external partners.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Reliable, responsible, and able to maintain confidentiality and compliance standards.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to work on-site in Homestead, FL.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with consumer electronics or other high-value products.
- Prior experience working in or with a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) environment.
- Familiarity with Homestead FTZ / South Florida logistics is a plus.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
