Responsibilities
- Greet clients warmly upon arrival, providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive first impression
- Manage appointment scheduling using veterinary software, coordinating with veterinary staff to optimize daily operations
- Handle client inquiries via phone, email, and in person, providing clear information about services, procedures, and pet care advice
- Collect payments, process medical billing, and perform medical collections in accordance with clinic policies and regulations
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations or treatments, ensuring safety for pets and staff
- Support veterinary procedures by preparing animals for surgery or diagnostics, including animal catheterization and aseptic techniques
- Maintain accurate records of patient histories, treatments, laboratory results, and compliance with USDA regulations and DEA guidelines
- Perform kennel duties such as animal husbandry, feeding, cleaning, and monitoring pets’ well-being during their stay at the clinic
- Support veterinary critical care activities by assisting with lab work or specimen collection as needed
- Ensure the front desk area is organized, clean, and stocked with necessary supplies like pet grooming tools or veterinary forms
Requirements
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and medical-surgical procedures
- Proficiency in veterinary software systems and Microsoft Office applications for administrative tasks
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners from diverse backgrounds
- Experience handling dogs and other companion animals safely using proper restraint techniques
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine and familiarity with drug enforcement regulations (DEA) and USDA standards
- Ability to perform animal restraint skillfully during examinations or treatments; kennel experience is a plus
- Basic understanding of pet groomingi, dog training, or pet grooming techniques is beneficial but not required
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in record keeping
- Compassionate attitude combined with strong organizational skills to support both client needs and veterinary operations
