Overall responsibilities:
A mortgage closer finalizes the loan process by preparing and verifying all closing documents, ensuring they comply with regulations and lender guidelines. This role involves coordinating with the brokers and title company to facilitate the timely and accurate disbursement of funds and the transfer of property ownership. Key responsibilities include ensuring all legal and financial requirements are met, providing final settlement documents to the borrower, and managing the closing schedule.
Key responsibilities:
- Review and verify documents:
Meticulously review and verify all loan documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with state and federal laws.
- Prepare closing documents:
Prepare and audit all necessary closing documents, including the final loan documents for the borrower's signature.
- Coordinate scheduling:
Schedule and coordinate the closing process with all parties involved, such as the borrower, lender, and title company.
- Ensure compliance:
Ensure that all loan terms, disclosures, and closing documents comply with all applicable regulations and the lender's guidelines. Familiar with TRID, RESPA, State laws.
- Resolve discrepancies:
Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues within closing documents to ensure a smooth and successful closing.
- Communicate with stakeholders:
Maintain clear and effective communication with all parties throughout the closing process.
Qualifications
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle high volumes of work accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in mortgage loan processing software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in mortgage closing or a related field is a plus.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field like finance or business is sometimes preferred, along with professional certifications. Notary license is a plus.
