OVERVIEW:
NOVEC is seeking candidates for full-time and part-time paid engineering internships for summer 2027. The position will be on-site in Manassas, VA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other related duties may be assigned. An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and effectively. Reasonable accommodation may be available to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Examine trends, events and adverse conditions on NOVEC's electric system
- Examine and analyze reliability indices such as SAIDI, SAIFI, CAIDI, and MAIFI to include feeder performance
- Perform routine calculations, accuracy and reliability studies under the direction of an operator, designer, or engineer
- Review smart meter information for power quality data
- Perform field visits and verify existing conditions/status
- Review Outage Model for accuracy
- Review and Update Circuit One-lines as needed
- Support storm restoration efforts
- Other duties/projects as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Circuits II and Physics II courses
- Minimum Cumulative GPA 3.0
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in engineering or graduate degree in an ABET accredited program with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027 or after
- Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving history
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous engineering work experience
- Successful completion of Power Systems Analysis
- Successful completion of Electromagnetics
