Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant will support clients in leading fulfilling lives by overcoming physical, emotional, or developmental challenges, which may involve regaining independence, improving quality of life, or achieving personal goals. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will be at the forefront of our mission to help clients achieve greater independence and improved well-being. Your role will be instrumental in supporting the Occupational Therapist(s) in developing and implementing therapeutic plans, making a significant impact on our clients' lives. This role involves significant communication with clients, their family members, and various healthcare professionals. The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant must be passionate about delivering excellent client care, exercise good judgment and initiative, work independently, and demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills. This position offers the opportunity to exercise sound judgment and initiative, work independently, and grow professionally. Professional demeanor and appearance are required.
Roles and responsibilities will include the following, but not limited to:
- Assist in the development and implementation of client treatment plans.
- Conduct therapeutic activities according to the occupational therapist's guidance.
- Monitor client progress and report it to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Instruct clients and families in following treatment plans and using therapeutic equipment.
- Help clients improve their cognitive, physical, and emotional well-being.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of client progress and treatments.
- Modify treatment plans to address client needs in consultation with an Occupational Therapist.
- Educate the client and their families on tasks and activities necessary for rehabilitation.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize client care and outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- State licensure or certification as required by local health authorities.
- Basic life support or CPR certification.
- Proficiency in using occupational therapy tools and equipment.
