Pay: $100,000.00 – $130,000.00 Annually (DOE/DOQ)
Job Summary:
A Advanced Septic and Construction Services is seeking a highly experienced Septic Install Superintendent to lead and manage septic installation operations across Pierce, King, Kitsap, and surrounding counties. This role is responsible for supervising multiple field crews, ensuring high-quality septic system installations, maintaining compliance with Washington State and county health regulations, and driving production efficiency across all active job sites. In addition to field leadership, this position plays a critical role in workforce development, including conducting interviews, participating in hiring decisions, and supporting employee training and performance management.
The ideal candidate is a proven septic construction leader with strong knowledge of Washington State onsite sewage systems, excavation practices, and crew leadership in a high-production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Field Leadership & Project Oversight
- Supervise septic installation crews across multiple active job sites
- Oversee full installation lifecycle: excavation, tank placement, drain field construction, backfill, grading, and final prep for inspection
- Ensure work is completed according to engineered plans, permits, and county health department requirements
- Coordinate daily production schedules with dispatch and project management
- Troubleshoot and resolve field issues, design conflicts, and site challenges in real time
Hiring, Training & Crew Development
- Conduct candidate interviews for field positions (operators, installers, laborers)
- Participate in hiring recommendations and final selection decisions
- Train, mentor, and develop field employees to improve performance and retention
- Approve employee timesheets and time-off requests
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and corrective action when needed
- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism
Septic Installation & Technical Execution
- Oversee and/or perform excavation and installation of septic systems
- Ensure proper grading, trenching, compaction, and utility protection
- Verify correct placement of septic tanks, drain fields, and associated components
- Read and interpret engineered septic designs and site plans
- Ensure compliance with Pierce, King, Kitsap, and surrounding county regulations
Compliance, Safety & Certification
- Enforce OSHA safety standards on all job sites
- Ensure compliance with Washington State OSS (Onsite Sewage System) regulations
- Must maintain WOSSA certification (required)
- Conduct jobsite safety meetings and hazard assessments
- Ensure documentation is complete for inspections and regulatory approvals
Equipment & Jobsite Management
- Operate excavators and heavy equipment as needed
- Oversee proper use, maintenance, and care of company equipment
- Coordinate trucking, material staging, and equipment logistics
- Ensure efficient utilization of equipment to meet production goals
Communication & Reporting
- Serve as primary field leadership contact between crews and office staff
- Provide daily production updates and job status reports
- Communicate change conditions, site issues, and schedule impacts
- Maintain documentation of crew performance, incidents, and job progress
Requirements:
- Valid WA State Drivers License
- Minimum 5 years of septic installation experience (Washington State strongly preferred)
- Proven leadership experience as Foreman, Lead Installer, or Superintendent
- Strong knowledge of excavation, underground utilities, and site development
- Deep familiarity with Pierce, King, Kitsap, and surrounding county septic regulations
- Ability to read and interpret engineered septic plans
- Experience managing multiple crews or job sites simultaneously
- Must be WOSSA certified (required or ability to obtain immediately)
- Must be 23 years old (insurance requirement)
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid CDL Class A (must be willing to obtain after 1 year)
- Prior Superintendent or senior Foreman experience in septic or civil construction
- Strong mechanical and heavy equipment knowledge
- Experience working directly with county inspectors and health departments
- Demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing crews
- Strong organizational and scheduling skills in fast-paced field operations
