Overview
The Sales Director is responsible for leading and executing the company’s commercial strategy across retail and foodservice channels. This role will build structure, drive accountability, and elevate the sales organization from reactive order-taking to proactive, data-driven business development.
This individual will play a critical role in shaping sales strategy, implementing KPI frameworks, and building the systems and processes required to scale. Success requires a hands-on leader who can operate at both a strategic and executional level, translating data and market insights into clear direction and measurable outcomes.
Key Resposibilities
- Translate data into clear, actionable direction for the sales team and cross-functional partners
- Lead, coach, and develop the sales team, implementing structured performance management and accountability
- Define and implement a KPI-driven sales framework tied to revenue, margin, forecast accuracy, and account growth
- Identify reporting gaps and build standardized dashboards across pipeline, forecasting, and performance
- Drive transition from order-taking to proactive business development, setting clear expectations and growth targets
- Build trust and credibility while raising the performance bar across the organization
- Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of CRM and sales systems
- Build scalable sales processes across pipeline management, forecasting, and account planning
- Ensure alignment between systems, KPI tracking, and business objectives
- Own key account strategy and serve as escalation point for complex negotiations and strategic partnerships
- Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Purchasing, Marketing, and Finance to align sales with capacity, inventory, and margin goals
- Monitor market trends, customer behavior, and competitive dynamics to inform proactive commercial strategy
- Deliver accurate forecasts, pipeline visibility, and performance reporting to leadership
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 10 years of progressive sales leadership experience in food manufacturing, distribution, or related industries
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate data into action
- Demonstrated experience building KPI frameworks, sales processes, and systems from the ground up
- Proven ability to lead teams, influence stakeholders, and drive measurable business outcomes
- Experience implementing or improving CRM and reporting systems preferred
- Track record of progressing from execution into leadership and strategic roles
- Relationship-driven, credible, and able to build trust quickly
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on, evolving environment
