Senior Land Surveyor/ Survey Manager - Responsibilities
As a Senior Surveyor / Project Manager, you’ll serve as a key leader responsible for managing multiple field and office teams while ensuring the successful delivery of diverse surveying projects. This role blends technical oversight with strategic project management, mentorship, and client engagement.
Senior Land Surveyor/ Survey Manager - Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee all phases of surveying operations, from project scoping and scheduling to final deliverables
- Supervise and mentor multiple field crews and office technicians, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to standards
- Review and approve boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, and construction surveys
- Coordinate with engineering and design teams to ensure seamless project integration
- Manage budgets, timelines, and quality control for multiple concurrent projects
- Conduct technical reviews of plats, legal descriptions, and right-of-way documentation
- Serve as primary client contact for survey-related work—providing updates, resolving challenges, and maintaining long-term relationships
- Lead adoption of emerging technologies and best practices within the survey group
Senior Land Surveyor/ Survey Manager - Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Associate’s, or Technical degree in surveying, geomatics, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years of progressive land surveying experience, including team leadership and project management
- Maryland Professional licensure (PLS) strongly preferred; SIT or other credentials considered
- Proven ability to manage multiple teams and complex project portfolios
- Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D, Microstation, Carlson, or comparable survey computation software
- Strong communication, coordination, and client-facing skills
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance technical detail and business objectives
