Freelance Print & Textile Designer (Hybrid/Contract)
Contract / Project-Based | Women’s Apparel
We are seeking a talented Freelance Print & Textile Designer to join our internal print team on an ongoing basis, working 3 days per week in the office. This role will contribute to the creation of seasonal prints across multiple women’s apparel categories, including Swim, Sleep, Active, and Ready-to-Wear. The designer will collaborate closely with in-house designers and directors to bring trend-forward, brand-appropriate artwork to life, and will provide technical support for strike-offs, tech packs, and vendor communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate seasonal direction, mood boards, and design briefs into original, cohesive print concepts.
- Create repeat and placement artwork across categories (all-over prints, graphics, engineered layouts, etc.).
- Prepare detailed production-ready files, including repeat building, color indexing, and scale exploration.
- Generate layered PSDs, vector files, and repeat swatches for vendor handoff.
- Collaborate with internal print designers to implement feedback and revisions.
- Ensure consistency of aesthetic from concept through final execution.
- Manage multiple briefs simultaneously while meeting set timelines and project milestones.
Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in textile or print design for apparel; mass retail experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Strong knowledge of textile repeat building and production standards.
- Ability to manage layered digital files and provide organized, clean handoffs.
- Experience creating and managing tech packs and communicating with factories.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Comfortable handling quick turnaround requests and short-term project bursts.
Nice to Have
- Experience with NedGraphics is strongly preferred.
