We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and highly creative Director of Marketing to lead brand-building and growth initiatives for a fast-growing consumer skincare business. This role will develop and execute customer-centric, omni-channel marketing strategies that strengthen brand equity, build loyalty, and drive sustainable commercial growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead product positioning, messaging, naming, ingredient storytelling, and claims development across designated product portfolios.
- Develop and execute end-to-end go-to-market strategies for product launches, seasonal campaigns, and key commercial moments.
- Partner with product development, sales, retail marketing, creative, and external agencies to deliver cohesive, high-impact campaigns.
- Manage campaign and project budgets, ensuring fiscal discipline and strong return on investment.
- Use consumer insights, market intelligence, and performance data to guide strategy and optimize marketing activity.
- Monitor brand health, launch results, campaign effectiveness, and category trends to identify growth opportunities.
- Serve as a senior marketing contact for retail partners, leading meetings, communications, and channel-specific growth initiatives.
- Build and execute partnership strategies that expand brand reach and align with consumer interests and business priorities.
- Develop community and advocacy programs that encourage organic engagement, digital conversation, and long-term loyalty.
- Create scalable marketing processes that improve efficiency while maintaining speed and agility.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a direct report while managing agency and cross-functional partner relationships.
- Support additional strategic projects as business needs evolve.
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- 8 years of marketing experience within consumer goods, including required beauty industry experience.
- Experience within skincare is strongly preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience working with an independent beauty or skincare brand.
- Demonstrated success scaling brands during periods of rapid growth.
- Strong track record of leading product launches with measurable commercial impact.
- Experience supporting distribution through specialty beauty retail, premium e-commerce marketplaces, and/or high-growth direct-to-consumer channels.
- Deep understanding of beauty consumers, influencer ecosystems, omni-channel marketing, and current industry trends.
- Prior experience leading teams and managing agency partners.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills; copywriting experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Slides, Sheets, and Docs, along with strong presentation design capabilities.
- Strong awareness of beauty and lifestyle trends among Gen Z and Millennial audiences.
- Ability to work from the New York City office at least one day per week and travel approximately 10–15% as needed.
