What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Operating Officer position at 24 Seven Talent?
Chief Operating Officer
Specialized Healthcare Digital Marketing Organization
Opportunity Snapshot
A senior operational leader is needed to serve as the CEO’s primary business partner inside a growth-focused healthcare marketing agency. This individual will translate strategy into a disciplined operating model, ensure that every function is aligned and accountable, and build the internal infrastructure required for sustainable scale and readiness for a future transaction. The CEO will continue to lead vision, market positioning, and key strategic decisions; the COO will architect and run the internal engine that makes the business perform.
Key Areas of Ownership
- Direct the day-to-day operations spanning SEO, local search, paid media (search, social, programmatic), brand and creative services, client delivery, and internal support teams.
- Turn the CEO’s strategic direction into concrete annual and quarterly priorities, operational plans, and measurable KPIs, and ensure those plans are executed consistently.
- Install and lead a structured operating framework (e.g., EOS, Scaling Up, or similar): facilitate executive meetings, maintain scorecards, run planning cycles, and drive issue identification and resolution.
- Map, refine, and document end-to-end workflows from sales handoff through campaign execution, reporting, renewal, and upsell to drive margin improvement, scalability, and a consistent client experience.
- Develop and mentor senior leaders and key managers; continually assess the organization to ensure people, roles, and responsibilities are aligned with the company’s growth goals.
- Own and monitor critical operating metrics including utilization, delivery margins, project and retainer profitability, timeliness, adherence to scope, and client retention.
- Work closely with finance and the CEO on budgeting, forecasting, and performance dashboards; actively steer the business toward revenue and EBITDA targets.
- Prepare the company for a potential sale or investment by tightening processes, clarifying organizational structure, enhancing reporting, and ensuring that performance data is clean, credible, and accessible.
Experience & Background
- At least 7 years of leadership experience in a digital marketing, integrated marketing, or performance-driven agency environment.
- Proven track record running operations in a founder-led business as a COO, Integrator, Head of Operations, General Manager, or equivalent.
- Deep practical understanding of key digital channels—SEO, local SEO, paid search, paid social, programmatic, branding, and creative—and how they come together in integrated campaigns.
- Strong preference for candidates with healthcare or healthcare-adjacent marketing exposure (such as multi-site provider groups, hospitals, DSOs/MSOs, PE-backed healthcare platforms, medtech, or similar).
- Hands-on experience implementing or operating within an entrepreneurial operating system (e.g., EOS, Scaling Up, or comparable framework).
- Ideally, participation in at least one significant growth journey and/or successful exit event (e.g., private equity roll-up, strategic acquisition, or similar transaction).
Leadership & Working Style
- A systems-driven operator who can comfortably move between high-level strategy and hands-on operational detail.
- Enjoys building structure and clarity in entrepreneurial, fast-moving environments where processes are evolving.
- Able to partner closely with a strong founder/CEO, communicate with candor, and uphold accountability across all levels of the organization.
- Highly organized, analytical, and execution-focused, with a clear bias toward action and measurable outcomes.
- Low-ego, high-integrity leader who is motivated by improving healthcare access and outcomes through smarter marketing.
Compensation: Competitive base salary targeted, plus performance-based incentives and the potential for long-term upside tied to growth and transaction readiness.
