Apparel Designer

Pay Rate: $40/hour

Client Overview:

Our client is seeking a Senior Apparel Designer to join their team in Wakefield, MA. This opportunity is ideal for a technically strong designer who is highly proficient in Adobe Illustrator, experienced with apparel development, and comfortable managing detailed design execution from concept through sample approval.

Role Overview:

The Senior Apparel Designer will support the development of apparel products by creating CADs, building and maintaining tech packs, managing color and artwork details, reviewing samples, and communicating directly with factories. This role requires strong technical design skills, excellent organization, and a high level of attention to detail.

The ideal candidate is confident working independently while also collaborating closely with head designers and cross-functional partners.

Role Responsibilities:

• Create and CAD apparel designs using Adobe Illustrator.
• Develop and maintain detailed tech packs and production-ready design files.
• Accurately size artwork and ensure alignment with design specifications.
• Develop multiple colorways, prints, stripes, and other design elements.
• Select Pantone colors and review and approve lab dips.
• Design labels and support additional apparel branding and trim development.
• Organize and track samples throughout the development process.
• Review samples for quality, construction, washes, color, and overall execution.
• Communicate approvals, revisions, and rejections directly to factories via email.
• Maintain sample sheets and track product development progress using Excel.
• Partner closely with head designers throughout the design and development process.
• Ensure design details and production specifications are accurate and consistently executed.

Role Requirements:

• Strong professional experience in apparel design or apparel product development.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required.
• Strong experience creating apparel CADs, technical drawings, and detailed tech packs.
• Experience developing prints, stripes, artwork, and multiple product colorways.
• Strong understanding of Pantone colors, lab dips, and color approval processes.
• Experience reviewing apparel samples and evaluating quality, washes, construction, and design execution.
• Experience communicating directly with factories or manufacturing partners.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple styles, samples, and deadlines simultaneously.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Basic Excel skills for sample tracking and development documentation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior and head designers while also managing responsibilities independently.

Location: Wakefield, MA. On-site 3–4 days per week with a flexible schedule. Morning availability is required.

Hours: 35–40 hours per week.
