POSITION SUMMARY
- This position supports the design, development and testing of induction and permanent magnet motors used in fans, pumps and compressors requiring innovative engineering solutions that enhance new product performance and reliability.
- The successful candidate will apply strong electromechanical engineering fundamentals, analytical expertise, and a collaborative mindset to support our customers’ needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supports the department’s Subject Mater Expert (SME) in the sizing, design, mechanical drawings and testing of electric motors operating at speeds up to 70,000 rpm used in our fans, pumps and compressors.
- Performs electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analysis using simulation tools (FEA/CFD).
- Creates detailed CAD models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Develops motor performance specifications and validation test plans. Conducts performance testing (efficiency, torque, speed, thermal, vibration, noise).
- Solves problems related to the assembly, repair and testing of development and production hardware.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related technical discipline from accredited college or university required.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in electric motor design and development.
- Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory and motor design principles.
- Experience with motor simulation tools. Hands-on experience with motor teardown.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor)
- Understanding of winding techniques, lamination stacks, magnets, and insulation systems.
- Ability to interpret and create detailed engineering drawings applying ASME Y14.5M.
