Accountant

Duration: 6 Months

Location: New York, NY 10031

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations and identify and clear unreconciled items promptly.
• Assist in monthly close tasks, including preparation of journal entries.
• Support the team with account analysis and variance explanations.
• Maintain accurate and well-documented reconciliation work papers.
• Assist on replying the inquiries on the new accounting system, CUNY Work.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong computer skills, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to perform complex reconciliations independently.
• Solid understanding of general accounting principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5–7 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience with revenue management in the higher education sector.
• Strong background in trial balance analysis and preparing adjusting journal entries.
