Job Title: CNC Machinist/Machine OperatorSchedule/Hours: Monday thru Friday (occasional weekend OT) / 6:00am to 3:30pm Breaks/OT: one 30 minute lunch breakPay: $23/hr to $25/hr (D.O.E.) Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesOur manufacturing team is hiring a Machinist / Machine Operator. A strong candidate must be able to work independently under the guidance of the Operations Manager to support our Odenton, MD manufacturing site. This position will allow for a candidate to gain experience in other areas of polyurethane product manufacturing as well.Main Responsibilities or Day to Day activities: • Daily startup and general maintenance of CNC and Lathes.• Part setup of CNC and CNC.• Load parts into machine.• Basic G-code and M-code programming for new parts or troubleshooting.• Perform first article inspection with common metrology tools to ensure products comply with company and customer standards.• Lathe and CNC operation to produce low-medium volume parts.• Raise quality concerns with management and troubleshoot to address issues.• Work with manufacturing and management teams to identify possible areas for improvement in machine or manufacturing processes.Required Competencies• Communication skills – Ability to communicate effectively with machinists, operators, and management. • Physical Req - Must be able to perform a position that requires prolonged standing and manual lifting from time to time up to 30lbs • Attention to detail – Familiarity with following work instructions for setup and operation. Ability to ask questions when needed. Follows all safety rules.• Inspection – General understanding of machine part drawings and familiarity with common inspection tools and gages. • Prioritization - Assesses which tasks are most critical, organizes resources and workload to ensure that the most important items are addressed in a timely manner.• Independence - Demonstrates ability to work on multiple priorities without direct oversight, knows when to ask for support and obtain other input and guidance.• CNC Lathe – Familiarity and understanding of CNC programming, setup, troubleshooting and operation.• PREFERRED - Polyurethane Machining – Experience machining or processing polyurethane, plastic, or rubber parts.Required Credentials• Technical Degree or 2 years demonstrated equivalent experience in CNC Machining.• At least one professional role demonstrates competency as a Machinist.• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.• PREFERRED - 3 years of CNC Lathe experience preferred.• PREFERRED - Experience with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.Transportation requirement / Bus line accessibility (how far of a walk from stop?): - MUST have their own transportationCompany DescriptionThis client of ours is a leading manufacturer of high-quality molded urethane products for a wide range of industries.
