CNC Machine Operator – Swiss Screw Machining (2nd Shift)

Schedule

This position is for long-term second shift: Monday–Thursday, 2:00 PM–12:00 AM (10-hour shifts). New hires will train on first shift (Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–2:30 PM) before transitioning to second shift. Overtime opportunities available.

Summary

We’re looking for an experienced CNC Machine Operator to join our second-shift team. In this role, you’ll run Swiss-type CNC lathes to produce precision parts to exact specifications. You’ll use your blueprint-reading and GD&T knowledge, mechanical skills, and troubleshooting ability to keep production running smoothly and to a high standard of quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate and trouble shoot Swiss-type CNC lathes (STAR machines, including a Lynx dual-spindle) according to blueprints and specifications
• Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T callouts
• Use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers) to verify part quality
• Monitor machine performance and make adjustments as needed
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment or process issues
• Maintain accurate production and quality records
• Follow all safety protocols and work as part of a team

Requirements

• 1–3 years of CNC machine operating experience (minimum)
• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
• Basic CNC proficiency and general mechanical knowledge
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Basic math skills (a short math evaluation may be given)
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Reliable transportation
• Must be self-managed and able to prioritize tasks effectively
• Must be able to pass a drug screening — drug-free workplace

Preferred, Not Required

• Experience programming and setting up CNC machines
• Knowledge of Swiss screw machining
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100, ITAR, and other QMS standards

Materials Machined

Stainless steel, aluminum, kovar, brass, inconel, carbon steel, and other alloys.

Physical Requirements

This role requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for the duration of the shift, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Required PPE: safety glasses and closed-toe shoes.
