Position Overview:
The router operator works within a production or manufacturing team, collaborating with other employees, engineers and supervisors to machine custom shaped parts for the custom department, and plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, ensuring that products are perfectly machined, and edges are clean and cut smooth, and parts are labeled correctly. This position requires attention to detail, technical aptitude, strong mathematical skills, a strong commitment to quality and the ability to hustle in a production-based atmosphere as this position is a key starting point in our production process.
Key Responsibilities:
· Machine operator: Rout sheet goods based on pre-engineered cut sheets downloaded at the machine, and produce precisely cut parts, using all of machines on board tooling and conveyor.
· Inspection and Testing: Conduct visual and functional inspections of machined parts to verify correct sizing, alignment, and functional performance.
· Quality Control: Identify and report any material or cut part defects, inconsistencies, or malfunctions in components or cut parts and work closely with production manager and custom mechanics to resolve issues.
· Material Handling: Load full sheets onto machine bed, and unload cut parts onto carts or pallets.
· Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with colleagues across different departments to resolve assembly challenges and improve operational efficiency.
· Compliance: Adhere to all workplace health and safety requirements.
· Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements that increase productivity, safety, or product quality.
Typical Duties and Tasks:
· Reading and interpreting work orders, printed labels for specific parts, shop drawings, assembly instructions, or CAD designs.
· Ensure machine is operating correctly and tooling is sharp and cutting the parts correctly.
· Labeling, packaging, and preparing finished cut parts for the custom department.
· Assisting with troubleshooting or reworking defective products.
· Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the work area.
Required Skills and Competencies:

Education and Experience Requirements:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred.
· Prior experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment is highly desirable.
Working Conditions:
· Manufacturing or production facility environment, which may be noisy and require standing for extended periods.
· Use of personal protective equipment as required by company policy and OSHA standards.
· Shift work or overtime may be required, depending on production needs.
· Physical tasks may include lifting heavy sheet goods, and cut parts, bending, reaching, and repetitive movements. A material lift is available at one machine.
