Assistant Manager - Restaurant

Duties

• Assist in managing daily restaurant operations, including supervising staff shifts, ensuring smooth service flow, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
• Support staff training initiatives to enhance team skills in food preparation, POS systems (such as Aloha POS and Micros POS), and customer service excellence.
• Oversee food safety protocols, proper food handling, inventory control, and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations.
• Handle cash transactions accurately, manage POS system operations, and perform cash handling duties with integrity.
• Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and control food costs to optimize profitability.
• Lead by example in supervising kitchen activities, including cooking, food production, and catering or banquet services when required.
• Participate in hiring processes through interviewing candidates and evaluating team members for potential growth opportunities.
• Support management in analyzing profit and loss statements, budgeting efforts, and implementing strategies for operational improvement.
• Foster a positive team environment through effective communication, conflict resolution, and staff development initiatives.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in quick service or Fine dining restaurant environments with a strong background in food preparation and kitchen management.
• Prior assistant manager or supervisory experience within the hospitality or food industry is essential.
• Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS; experience with cash handling and transaction processing is required.
• Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and inventory control procedures.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams effectively while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
• Experience in managing hospitality teams across casual dining, fine dining, catering, or hotel settings is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills coupled with basic math proficiency for budgeting and profit analysis.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
