Laser Operator

Marra Forni is seeking a Laser Operator for its Beltsville facility which specializes in manufacturing brick ovens. The Laser Operator will cut metal pieces and products by using laser-cutting equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Plans details of work order procedures, gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
• Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
• Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Thorough understanding of machines and tools.
• Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models, and blueprints.
• Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
• Effective communication and math skills.
• Proven track record for attendance, problem-solving skills, and working independently.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to read blueprints and other technical documents.
• Ability to use and understand precision measuring tools.
• Team player.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship or successful completion of an in-company, three-year training program preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
• Must be able to see details at close range.
• Good eyesight and ability to read.
• Must be able to lift 70 pounds at a time.
• Ability to lift, push, and/or pull materials up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to use manual machinery.
• Prolonged periods of standing.

Work hours: 6:30AM - 3:30PM.

Compensation: Based on experience.
