What are the responsibilities and job description for the Luggage Attendant position at 1100 West Investments LLC?
POSITION PURPOSE:
Responsible for greeting and welcome all guests to the hotel as well as bidding them farewell. The bell person will escort guests to and from their accommodations, orient them with the features of the property and their accommodations, assist the guest in any way to make them feel more comfortable. Assist both arriving and departing guests with baggage handling.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Welcome and escort guests to and from their rooms and assisting with luggage.
- Inform guests of all safety features and promote hotel outlets.
- Introduce Mondrian South Beach Preferred Guest Program to guests upon arrival and recognize club members.
- Maintain accurate logs.
- Store guest baggage upon request and assist with the loading and unloading of baggage into and out of automobiles.
- Transport guests and employees in the hotel’s limousine.
- Deliver packages and faxes to guests.
- Decorate the lobby for large arrivals and departures.
- Maintain cleanliness behind the bell stand, in the check-in/check-out area, and in the baggage room.
- Clean the brass bell carts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree or equivalent preferred
- Willing to work nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Physically able to carry 75 pounds; able to stand, bend, and move throughout shift.
- Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks.
- Excellent at verbal communication
- Works well and efficiently under pressure.
- Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of staff and management.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Work tasks generally are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, will be required to work outside during the course of the day to transport luggage to and from vehicles. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
- High school or equivalent education preferred.
- Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a hotel, hospitality, or related field.
- Must possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a genuine desire to assist guests.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Familiarity with the local area, including major roads, transportation hubs, tourist attractions, and popular dining spots.
- Maintain a polished, professional demeanor and appearance in all interactions.
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions precisely within a fast-paced environment.
Licenses or Certificates:
Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits.
Grooming:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Mondrian South Beach standards.
