POSITION PURPOSE
As a Bartender, you will be responsible for providing exceptional beverage service to our hotel guests while ensuring a memorable and enjoyable experience at our bar. You will create and serve a wide variety of drinks, maintain a clean and organized bar area, and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about cocktails, wine, and other beverages, possess excellent customer service skills, and be committed to upholding our hotel's high service standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare and serve a diverse range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to hotel guests in a timely and professional manner.
- Create and maintain an appealing and well-organized bar area, ensuring cleanliness and compliance with all safety and sanitation standards.
- Engage with guests in a friendly and welcoming manner, taking orders, offering recommendations, and providing exceptional customer service.
- Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions, processing payments and providing guests with receipts.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the hotel's drink menu, including cocktail recipes, wine selections, and special promotions.
- Monitor and restock bar supplies, including glassware, garnishes, and spirits, to ensure a seamless and efficient service.
- Adhere to responsible alcohol service guidelines, verifying the age of guests and refusing service to those who are visibly intoxicated or underage.
- Participate in regular inventory checks, assisting in ordering and receiving bar supplies to maintain adequate stock levels.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, new beverage offerings, and drink preparation techniques to enhance the hotel's drink offerings.
- Comply with all hotel policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as local and state liquor laws.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and seek to resolve issues to the satisfaction of the guest.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the hotel's uniform and grooming standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.
Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Mondrian South Beach rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the requirements of the hotel.
- Assist servers, other bartenders, and bar porters when necessary.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. The temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens ( 110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.
- Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment, including, but not limited to, cutlery used in the cutting of fruit.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be minimum age to serve alcohol.
- One to two years’ previous bartending experience in a hotel, restaurant, or similar establishment is preferred.
- Knowledge of cocktail recipes and mixology techniques.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to handle cash and credit card transactions accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible for alcohol service training or certification.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy kegs or supplies as needed.
- Knowledge of beverage and bar equipment maintenance is a plus.
Education:
High school or equivalent education required.
Licenses or Certificates:
Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates, or permits.
Grooming:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Baia Beach Club/Mondrian South Beach standards.
