Position Overview
1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Inc., a leading provider of gourmet food and floral gifts and a family of iconic brands, is seeking a highly motivated MBA candidate or recent graduate to support a 10-week strategic project focused on merchandising strategy.
This role will partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to support planning efforts within the floral category, with a focus on promotional strategy, pricing, and margin optimization. The associate will analyze assortment performance, pricing structures, and promotional effectiveness to identify opportunities that drive revenue growth and improve profitability.
This position is ideal for a current MBA student looking to gain hands-on consulting or corporate strategy experience while contributing to a high-impact business initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis related to merchandising, pricing, and promotional strategy
- Gather and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities
- Analyze product assortment performance and identify opportunities for optimization
- Evaluate pricing strategies and assess impact on margin and customer demand
- Assess promotional effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve ROI
- Support planning efforts within the floral category, including forecasting and assortment decisions
- Develop strategic recommendations to improve revenue growth and profitability
- Build financial models to evaluate pricing, margin, and promotional scenarios
- Create presentations, reports, and executive summaries for leadership stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including merchandising, finance, and analytics
- Support project planning, milestone tracking, and deliverable execution
- Present project findings and recommendations to leadership at the conclusion of the engagement
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing an MBA or other postgraduate business degree preferred; recent graduates encouraged to apply
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with business analysis, merchandising, pricing, or consulting projects
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to translate complex data into clear insights and recommendations
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities within a short-term project environment
Preferred
- Prior experience in consulting, corporate strategy, merchandising, or retail analytics
- Exposure to pricing strategy, assortment planning, or promotional analysis
- Experience with financial modeling, margin analysis, or demand forecasting
- Experience working on academic consulting projects, internships, or strategic initiatives
