About the Opportunity
We invite you to apply to join our team as our new full-time Customer Services Representative in the Parking Services Division of the Transportation Department.The position provides excellent customer service to Parking Services' customers, including residents and visitors of Asheville, NC, while processing payments, providing routine information and answering questions regarding policies, procedures, fees, and other issues.
What you'll be doing:
  • Handles phone inquiries concerning policies, guidelines, procedure, services, payments, etc. as they relate to the City's operations.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for walk-in customers, answering questions and providing guidance regarding city services, including parking citations, monthly rentals, and abandoned vehicles.
  • Performs general office work inputting data in software systems.
  • Checks related websites to conduct research.
  • Explains fee, policies, regulations, etc as they pertain to the department and City services.
  • Processes adjustments regarding parking citations, appeals, and meter closures including creating payment arrangements for customers with outstanding parking citations.
  • Performs general office work inputting data in multiple software systems, checking job related websites and using copy and fax machines.
  • May receive and post payments to accounts using payment soft ware and Munis system. Balances receipts at day's end, if receiving payments are part of responsibilities.
  • Performs back-up duties at front desk assisting walk-in customers with a variety of parking issues.
  • Researches account issues and handles special assignments as needed.
  • Performs other similar duties as required.

Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma with one year of technical training with some customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Licensing and Certifications:
  • None.

Other things to know:
Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime compensation.
Hiring Rate: $19.16 per hour
