We’re seeking a skilled and experienced Paralegal to support our growing legal team. The ideal candidate for this position will use their work experience and organizational skills to conduct legal research, draft memos, pleadings, motions, and orders, as well as prepare for hearings and trials.

To excel in this position you must be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment, organize large volumes of data, meet billable hour requirements and deadlines, and be motivated to achieve Firm goals. Our ideal candidate will not only be organized with their own tasks and workflow but be able to manage up to their attorney and legal team.'

A Paralegal must have a certificate or degree from an accredited paralegal program along with experience in the areas of legal research and drafting.

Salary is commensurate with skill and experience. We offer a significant benefits package including contribution to health insurance, employer-matched 401(k), an employer-sponsored life insurance policy, short-term disability leave, free parking, and paid time off. 

Compensation:

$65,000 - $100,000 yearly based on experience

Responsibilities:
  • Work with lawyers to prepare for trial by conducting research on legal articles, preparing and organizing exhibits, organizing and coordinating witnesses, filing motions, and assisting with client meetings
  • Conduct interviews with clients to gather information about their legal issues

  • Manage your time to ensure that billable hour targets are met or exceeded
  • Communicate with clients, experts, and other parties to provide updates and gather information; answer basic questions about the status of the case
  • Monitor case progress, deadlines, and important time frames/milestones
  • Draft documents, indexes, and chronologies; prepare marital settlement agreements; draft pleadings, motions, and court documents; fill out legal forms; write reports, etc.
  • Help attorneys prepare cases for mediations/hearings
  • Manage discovery: prepare and organize discovery and responses to discovery demands
  • Research laws and judicial decisions about current as well as past cases
  • Assist attorneys in the courtroom as needed
  • Enter billable and non-billable time in the case management system
Qualifications:
  • Must have completed an ABA-approved paralegal certificate program such as an Associate’s degree or proprietary school program in paralegal studies, Bachelor’s degree desired
  • At least 3 years of experience in legal services under an attorney or lawyer in a law firm setting

A Paralegal will have completed a course of study offered by a college or university, especially for Paralegals, and will possess a certification as a trained paralegal.

A Paralegal should have experience in a law firm. Experience as a legal secretary or legal assistant is especially pertinent, and candidates with this background will be given preference.

Additionally, you must possess the following skills:

  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • People Skills/Customer Service—A Legal Assistant should have excellent people skills with the confidence to address initial client complaints and soothe angry clients

  • Time Management
  • Ability to work in a team with other Legal Assistants and Attorneys
