Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The YMCA is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as the Associate Director of Youth Programs. In this role, you will play a crucial part in overseeing our Youth Programs, with a focus on both typical and special needs participant, within our Afterschool, Summer Day Camp and YMCA initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth development, inclusivity, and creating engaging and enriching experiences for participants of the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Oversight:
•Lead the planning, development, and implementation of Afterschool and Summer Day Camp programs for youth, ensuring a well-rounded and inclusive curriculum.
•Create and deliver program communications and monitor Coordinator communication to parents and families.
•Collaborate with the Director of Youth Development to establish program goals, objectives, and evaluation methods.
Inclusivity and Special Needs Focus:
•Develop strategies to ensure the integration of special needs students into the programs, providing a supportive and inclusive environment.
•Work closely with parents, caregivers, and staff to understand and address the unique needs of special needs students.
Staff Management:
•Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, providing guidance and support to ensure a positive and nurturing atmosphere.
•Create and manage a staff schedule within budget goal and policy and procedures.
•Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and dedication among program staff.
Community Engagement:
•Establish and maintain strong relationships with parents, schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders.
•Actively engage in outreach and marketing efforts to promote and grow Youth Programs.
•Provide staff support to all YMCA special events and the annual fund-raising campaign
Safety and Compliance:
•Ensure all programs comply with YMCA standards, safety regulations, and relevant licensing requirements.
•Implement emergency procedures and protocols, prioritizing the safety and well-being of all participants.
Budget Management:
•Assist in the development and management of program budgets, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible use of resources.
•Meet or exceed Annual Campaign goal.
This position has a primary impact on the overall effectiveness with which the Branch accomplishes its purpose, goals and objectives in serving the community. Therefore, the effectiveness of this position should be measured by the following:
•The Branch will increase net annual membership from the prior year
•The Branch will increase program and camp revenue, from previous year
•The community will better understand the YMCA programs and the need to support them
•The members will better understand the YMCA's charitable mission
•The Family Center will achieve specific participation/attendance figures in key program areas
Qualifications
JOB REQUIREMENTS
To be successful, you must meet some education, training and experience requirements and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and physical abilities.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
•A bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university preferred.
•Must have or be willing to obtain DCF 40-hour training as required by state licensing authority.
•Must have experience in recruiting, training and motivating people and must understand the importance of retention.
•Strong supervisory and leadership skills must have been obtained and demonstrated through past job experiences.
•Broad overview of the YMCA as it operates as a local, national, and international movement.
•Must possess current AED/CPR/First Aid certification.
•Must possess the skills to operate standard office and computer equipment and be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
•Must possess effective communication, organizational and budgeting skills.
•Must be willing to travel within Palm Beach County Area
•Must have valid driver's license
WORKING CONDITIONS
•May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms.
•May be required to sit, stand or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time.
•Must exhibit patience and understanding.
•Must be able to receive and follow detailed instructions.
•Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind. Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor environment and children's well-being.
•May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating manual dexterity in order to accurately work on the phone, computer keyboard, and other equipment.
•Must possess auditory, verbal and visual capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone and in person.
•Must be capable of working under pressure in an educational environment.
•May be required to work outdoors, nights, and weekends.
•Must be able to drive 14 passenger vehicle to transport children from school or on field trips.
•Will be required to perform Manager on Duty shift as scheduled.
