POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Pathways Facilitator supports the work of the Y, which is committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. A Project Pathways Facilitator provides direct supervision of a group of children and enhances learning experiences through creative and recreational supplemental programming. This position fosters a safe and nurturing environment for all program participants in Project Pathways.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOUTH PROTECTION
The YMCA of Rock River Valley has a responsibility to provide safe and secure programs and services for our community. The YMCA is a leader in child abuse prevention to support the safety of children in our care.

  • You'll support the commitment of the YMCA to child abuse prevention by:
  • Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members or guests to your supervisor.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to the monitoring and supervision of children.
  • Report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to your supervisor.
  • Complete all child abuse prevention training as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Plans and facilitates quality programs including, but not limited to education; team-building; S.T.E.A.M. projects; and family outings.
  2. Provides supervision, guidance and leadership for program participants.
  3. Partners and coordinates with fellow facilitators to optimize program success.
  4. Models appropriate behaviors including core values, cleanliness, punctuality, sharing, healthy habits, and good sportsmanship.
  5. Provides constant supervision with each activity to ensure the safety of all program participants.
  6. Provides a safe and nurturing environment for all.
  7. Ensures a strong focus on character development and diversity, equity and inclusion throughout programming.
  8. Reports damaged equipment or safety hazards promptly.
  9. Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Rock River Valley.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum age of 21 years old.
  • Able to work with children between ages of 13-17.
  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children.
  • Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, archery, boating, camping, songs/music, skits, sports, aquatics and recreational games.
  • Attend trauma-informed training upon hire.
  • IL DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect/Mandated Reporter.
  • Praesidium Academy trainings required.
  • CPR & First Aid/AED certification required upon hire.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

2 Positions
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Will work between 5-10 hours per month
$15.00 per hour

DOJ/Project Safe Neighborhoods , 100%, 1/1/24-12/31/24, Renewable
