Camp Chase Summer Leadership Staff
Summer Leadership Staff are responsible for leadership, daily observations, encouragement, and supervision of campers and staff in their program area or unit while collectively supporting the daily operation of camp. Areas include but are not limited to the following roles Arts and Crafts Specialist, Challenge/Ropes Specialist, Archery Specialist, and Unit Leader. Units are groups of campers by age/grade.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide a positive role model for all.
2. Organize and develop unit programming for specified age groups or area programs.
3. Attend required training, meetings, and overnight/family programs.
4. Assist counselors with camper problems and concerns.
5. Provide timely feedback on staff performance and assist directors with summer evaluations.
6. Compile and submit accurate daily attendance, program reports, incident reports and other necessary documentation.
7. Report immediately to Program Directors any evidence of child abuse, including physical, mental, and emotional neglect.
8. Provide a safe environment and program for all participants.
9. Demonstrate and promote YMCA Character Development to all members, participants, and community by:
o Caring: to be sensitive to the well-being of others; to help others
o Honesty: to tell the truth; to be worthy of trust; to have integrity
o Respect: to treat others as you would have them treat you; to value the worth of every person, including yourself
o Responsibility: to do what you ought to do; to be accountable for your behavior and your obligations
10. Arrive on time for scheduled shifts, wear the appropriate uniform and name tag, and be prepared for all assignments.
11. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. At least 20 years of age.
2. Current certification in, or willingness to train in First Aid and CPR required within 30 days of hire.
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
4. Possess skills including supervision of staff, organizational, and knowledge of summer camp activities and working with children.
