Camp Koda is a Day Camp located at the Fercho and Schlossman YMCAs. Camp Koda at the Y provides a fun and unique experience each week for our childcare & community campers (ages 6 to 11).

The YMCA is hiring a Lead Counselor to assist our Enrichment & Camp Coordinator in leading our summer day camp activities. As a Lead Counselor, you will oversee and participate in activities such as swimming, arts & crafts, nature walks, field trips, music, science experiments, sports, cultural exploration, and more. We also take a trip to YMCA Camp Cormorant to experience the traditional camping atmosphere and try out the ropes course, water activities, horseback riding, and more!

Youth Day Camp - Lead Counselor:

• Responsible for the direct supervision and safety of the children (ages 6 to 11) in the camp program
• Be the "go-to" person for any issues or situations with the campers or their parents/guardians. Available to answer parent/caregiver questions.
• Help campers adjust to camp by introducing them to new friends and facilitating positive peer-to-peer interactions
• Create a positive and nurturing relationship with the children, while building cooperative relationships with their parents/caregivers
• Transport youth participants to activities while staying on time with daily schedule and following DOT regulations for the bus
• Provide leadership to the Camp Counselors

Shifts:

Camp Koda is open Monday-Friday. This is a seasonal/summer position. The Lead Counselor will need to be available to work the AM shift or the PM shift:

AM Shift: Monday-Friday 6:30am to 2:30pm (June 3-August 23)

PM Shift: Monday-Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm (June 3-August 23)

Training is held the week of May 27. You'll have the entire week of the 4th of July off (July 1-5)!

Pay & Benefits:

• $14.07 /hour
• Part-time employees begin accruing Sick Leave immediately upon hire

Qualifications:

• At least 18 years old
• 1 year of directly related experience working with youth
• First Aid & CPR Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification preferred
