This recruitment w ill fill Dental Assistant positions (EFDA is not required) in our health centersThis recruitment will fill multiple positions at dental clinics throughout the Portland Metro area. *This is a Limited Duration position*
The Dental Program works with many community partners, targeting underserved populations in Multnomah County to ensure access to dental services, including providing education, prevention, and dental treatment. The Dental Assistant is responsible for a variety of duties to assist Dentists and Dental Hygienists in the delivery of dental care to patients. The position could require working in different locations and teams per Dental Clinic Program Supervisor direction.
As a Dental Assistant , you will:
Clinical Functions and Provider Support
  • Provide direct clinical assistance and support to Dentists and Dental Hygienists.
  • Perform all aspects of 4-handed dentistry using effective and efficient techniques; mixes materials; places rubber dam; take study models impressions; take diagnostic x-rays..
  • Help triage emergency patients and make providers aware of clients' needs.
  • Provides patient with oral hygiene instructions and provides information on healthy food choices utilizing motivational interviewing tools
Resource Management / Infection Control
  • Set up and disinfect operators following the proper procedures ensuring all instruments and supplies are available for patient care.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments according to established infection control guidelines.
Customer Service
  • Interact with patients respectfully and courteously.
  • Proactively monitor client wait times and ensure patients are informed of any schedule delays.
  • Conducts phone follow-ups and documentation.

TO QUALIFY:
We will consider any combination of relevant work experience, volunteering, education, and transferable skills as qualifying unless an item in a section is labeled required for details about how we typically screen applications and review our overview of the selection process.
Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as noted below. All non-traditional education, training, and experience will be evaluated.
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Completion of Dental Assistant program
  • Certification of radiologic proficiency is preferred , and you have the ability to obtain it within six months of hire, issued by the Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners.
  • BLS CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
Preferred Qualification:
  • One(1) year of responsible dental assistant experience or a graduate from an accredited dental assistant program
Other: This position requires a background investigation, which may include being fingerprinted. Employment is contingent on passing a background investigation.
