Join us and discover the possibilities for your future!Compensation: $60,000 /yrWorksite Location: South Campus Overview / Job Summary: As program Director, this position will work with the Dean or Associate Dean of Health Sciences to develop, organize, and implement the programs and courses related to Surgical Technology, and development of necessary policies and procedures for clinical education. This position carries a decreased teaching and face-to-face workload to fulfill the educational and administrative responsibilities of the surgical technology program. The Director of the Surgical Technology program also serves as the Clinical Coordinator.Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
  • Monitors all aspects of the program, including the coordination of academic instruction and clinical experiences.
  • Completes and submits self-study documents, coordinates site visits and completes annual reports and other accreditation reports and communications.
  • Provides systematic review of total program and presents plans for continued program development and success.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records/reports on students and submits reports to accrediting/regulatory agencies.
  • Keeps administrative staff informed of pertinent situations within the program and of community/professional activities affecting the program.
  • Accountable for the supervision and management of the budget.
  • Responsible for program effectiveness, including outcomes, organization, administration, continuous review, planning and development.
Additionally, the primary responsibility of an instructor is to provide the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any WSU Tech campus/off-campus locations as assigned. Education:
  • Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred.
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role, or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years
  • Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
  • Obtains at own expense yearly TB test and other immunizations and physical examinations as required by clinical sites.
  • Teaching experience in adult education preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of the proper safety and handling of materials used in the field.
