Position: Service Lane Greeter

Reports To: Operations Director

Part-Time and Full-Time Openings

POSITION SUMMARY:

Serves as a front-line representative for the dealership. Greets customers as they enter the service lane, gets basic information about them and the vehicle, does a quick walk-around of the vehicle noting any damage, checks the condition of exterior items, answers basic inquiries, and directs them to the appropriate service advisor.

Realize that during any interaction with customers, the employee should remember the HERO (Helpful, Exceeds expectations, Represents us well, takes Ownership) program. Also, the customer is the highest priority of any employee of Wilson County Motors.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Greets service customers and determines the nature of their visit.
2. Obtains and records basic demographic information about each customer using a dealership vehicle inspection form.
3. Answers basic customer inquiries. Refers to more extensive inquiries to the appropriate person.
4. Performs a walk-around with the customer, noting the condition of the vehicle, tires, wipers, and other items as directed by the Fixed Operations manager or the lead service advisor.
5. Directs customers to an appropriate service advisor or introduces a new customer to a lead advisor.
6. Assign a tag to each vehicle and place it on the rearview mirror or on the windshield so the vehicle can be identified.
7. Place a mat on the driver’s side floorboard of each vehicle so that the vehicle gets returned in like condition.
8. Guide the vehicles into and out of the service drive.
9. Fill each vehicle with windshield wiper fluid.
10. Cash out customers as directed.
11. Maintain service filing as directed.
12. Maintains professional appearance.
13. Work with other team members to ensure the completion of all assigned projects in a timely manner.

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES

1. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work/education background.
2. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
3. Ability to provide acceptable background checks and drug test results.
4. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

JOB EXPECTATIONS and REQUIRMENTS:

1. Arrive at your place of work on time as scheduled.
2. Hourly employees must clock in and out using the Company’s time recording system.
3. Perform work safely following company safety guidelines.
4. Vehicle hoods are not to be left unlatched unless it is there for only an oil change.
5. Do not place any items on the hood of the vehicle (i.e., keys, documents, pens, vehicle tags).
6. Do not lean or sit on vehicles in the service lanes. They are customer vehicles not furniture.
7. Do not use the vehicles as a table to write on. Use a clipboard or an Advisor’s desk.
8. Participate with keeping the service lanes free of hazards, including excess water.
9. During slow times Greeters may relax in the designated rest area only. Not in the lanes.
10. As customer vehicles enter the service lanes, the Greeter is to stand at the end of the lane directing customers to pull forward.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

May be standing for up to 100% of the shift and operating machinery applicable to the job. May require lifting, pushing, or pulling weights of more than 40 lbs. Duties will be performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment.
