Facility
Gates Tennis Center is Colorado's premier, open-to-the-public Tennis and Pickleball Facility. On 5 acres, our facility hosts up to 16 tennis courts, 18 Pickleball courts, and a clubhouse. The center offers programming for all ages and skill levels, ball machines, and private court rentals. Gates Tennis Center has been a historic part of Denver's recreation for nearly 50 years!
Position Summary
The responsibilities for this job include performing general groundskeeping duties like mowing, edging, and trimming, as well as maintaining facility cleanliness and removing weeds, leaves, and debris from outdoor areas. The job also involves operating hand tools and power tools to complete landscaping tasks, as well as hanging and adjusting windscreens and banners. It is essential to monitor outdoor areas for signs of damage or deterioration and report any issues to the supervisor. Collaboration with other team members is necessary to ensure efficient completion of tasks. Additionally, we expect to maintain the cleanliness of the whole facility and keep courts free from obstructions that stop or inhibit use.
Work Term
The Work Term is March 1st - October 31st. Only candidates who complete the full work term (until October 31st) should apply. As an outdoor facility, this position is designed as an 8-month position from March 1st - October 31st. Further, the position will require the employee to sign a Work Agreement. Options may be available to help bridge the Winter months until the next Work Term begins next season.
Key Competencies
- Previous experience in groundskeeping or a related field is preferred
- Familiarity with hand tools and power tools used in groundskeeping
- Ability to complete work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor in various weather conditions
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Communication: Speaks English fluently and relays completion or issues quickly
- Previous experience with tennis/pickleball court maintenance is preferred but not required
Pay
Hourly: $18.50-$20.00 with a signed work agreement
