Title: Assistant Manager - NYA Merchandise Services

Pay Rate Starts At: $21.00/ hour
Reports To: Manager
Schedule: Must be able to work weekends and holidays; weekday hours also available
Hours: Rotates around manager's schedule. Must be able to work 5 days per week. Schedule is subject to change through the spring and summer.
Position Summary
Assist in the daily operations of New York Aquarium Merchandise Services department. Work cohesively with the management team to supervise and maintain an efficient environment and provide support for the gift shop operations as well as provide high quality and superior customer service that enhances the guest's visit, maximizes revenue, and supports the mission of the Wildlife Conservation Society.
Assist in the Management of cash control

1. Recycler Maintenance
2. Change requests
3. Opening and closing of registers
4. Daily register audits

Assist in the management of inventory in Oceanic and Shore Shop store operations

1. Assist with Convergence Inventory Control (Internal Transfer, Vendor Transfers, Damages and Departmental Charges)
2. Learn and understand product placement and how it affects sales as well as per cap.
3. Ensure that staff is putting product out on selling floor at all times
4. Manage stock room. Ensure that stock room is neat and clean.
5. Communicate with Manager when merchandise is low so it can be ordered. (When Manager isn't present take ownership to ensure product is ordered )
6. Assist in logging all damages in Convergence.
7. Assist in ringing in department charges in Convergence.

Follow visual guidelines and practices set by management team

• Set a high bar with your Team Leads to ensure that for the visual integrity of store is always maintained. Examples would be:
• Making sure that associates work stations are always neat and cleaned and sanitized daily
• The floors are swept, vestibules vacuumed and windows cleaned.
• Stock room and storage area is neat and orderly at all times.

Qualification Requirements
Qualifications:

• Good analytical and math skills to create and analyze reports, sales statistics and spreadsheets
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to sell items to guest
• Excellent leadership skills and ability to work with teams, coach in the moment and put staff in key positions that will ensure the success of the operation
• Good communication and interpersonal skills towards customers, staff members and management team
• Great attention to detail for purposes of erecting attractive marketing displays, arranging merchandise and maintaining store appearance
• Ability to lift heavy merchandise, walk and stand long hours
• Proficiency in using Microsoft office
