Safety Professional (Occupational Safety)
You will drive the identification, assessment, analysis, and solving of a broad spectrum of Occupational safety issues across the Disney Cruise Line Fleet. This will include all operational areas in the fleet and assist with two Island resort destinations. You will also be an important technical resource in the safety documentation, risk assessment, accident and incident investigation and injury prevention programs with Safety First and Safety enhancement as the key driver. You will assist with Tiered audit programs with a focus on occupational safety and ergonomic initiatives to reduce injuries.
You will report to the Director of Safety DSE (Deputy DPA).
This position is based in Celebration, Florida.
You Will:
  • A deep knowledge and understanding of Occupational Safety.
  • Drive development, implementation, and sustainment of safety programs, performing job task analysis, analyzing injury and illness trend data, evaluating safety performance, and finding opportunities to improve safety performance and reduce injury rates.
  • Conduct regular quality assurance audits across the fleet including Tier 2 Audits where applicable.
  • Use critical thinking, independent decision-making, and influencing skills to drive safety initiatives, ensuring Disney Cruise Line not only meets regulatory standards but also increases opportunities to improve safety outcomes.
  • Share and inculcate industry-standard processes.
  • Ensure implementation of applicable safety standards and established regulations, mindful of maritime equivalencies to harmonize Walt Disney World safety standards across all aspects of Occupational safety.
  • Participate in New Build and Dock Design and implementation as designated to ensure focus on injury reduction and occupational safety enhancement the Disney Live Entertainment Design
  • Assist as appropriate in incident or accident investigations.
  • Review previous incidents to ensure lessons learned and recommendations are appropriately implemented.
  • Partner with operational teams to understand operational limitations and bring focus to occupational safety.
  • Review new rules & regulations to interpret & develop updated policy/procedures for all impacted operations. Assist in driving focus to ensure a Safety First mentality in design, maintenance, and operations across all departments and resorts.
  • Maintain relationships and work as part of a team within a matrix environment with all levels of leadership and employees.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Engage and collaborate with global and local partners to drive and ensure consistency across the Segment regarding Occupational safety.
  • Monitor significant incidents from other industries to ensure incident awareness.
You Will Have:
  • Be familiar with all CIR and CRI inputs in the DCLIMS system to assist root cause analysis and close out.
  • Provide mentorship & direction to all levels within the organization on how to best implement procedures to meet company policies.
  • Implement Safety Management Systems (SMS) updates accordingly to ensure policy changes are verified & consistent with compliance with all standards.
  • Contribute to Safety enhancement across all Departments.
  • Be fully familiar with the SMS.
  • Work as directed for project completion
  • This position necessitates holding a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification, demonstrating advanced knowledge and expertise in occupational safety practices and principles.
Education
Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience
