Job Summary:
Westat has an immediate opening for a Senior Research Associate conducting health services research analysis, healthcare economics, statistical programming, reporting, and task management. The successful candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team on a variety of health services research projects focused on health care delivery, payment, and policy.
Remote work arrangement available.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Serve in various technical roles using quantitative research methods for a variety of large, complex projects related to data validation and evaluation for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and other federal clients.
  • Independently conduct programming and analysis activities using SAS, R, and or Python to ingest, link, clean, create, and manipulate complex datasets.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis, interpret results, and prepare internal and client reports.
  • Provide some project management support including preparing progress reports and managing timelines.
  • Share quantitative results verbally and in writing for a variety of internal and external audiences through reports, presentations, peer-reviewed literature, and data visualizations.
  • Collaborate with team members with various levels of experience and subject matter expertise.
  • Participate in business development activities, as needed.
Basic Qualifications:
  • PhD in economics, statistics, health services research, or a related field focused on health and 2 years of research experience working in a health-related field with progressively increasing responsibilities OR master's degree in economics, statistics, health services research, or a related field and 6 years of experience working in a health-related field with progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing healthcare claims data, including Medicare, Medicaid claims and assessment data,
  • Demonstrated experience conducting health services research independently and on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated experience with quantitative research expertise, SAS, R, Python.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience cleaning, integrating, and analyzing clinical (e.g., registry data, claims, vital statistics), survey and/or social determinant of health data.
  • Demonstrated experience working for federal or state healthcare contracts, health focused Foundations, or health care delivery systems.
  • Ability to summarize or synthesize information for different audiences and purposes.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to coordinate completion of projects and tasks.
Other Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated communication skills.
  • Collaboration with teams, managers and/or clients.
  • Organization skills, including time management ability.
  • Detail oriented.
