Job Description
As an ESS Coordinator at Riverbend Prep, you will play a pivotal role in our commitment to providing an inclusive and exceptional educational experience for all students. Your work will directly impact the success and well-being of our diverse student body, ensuring that students with exceptional needs receive the support and resources necessary for their growth and development. Through collaboration with educators, parents, and community partners, you will contribute significantly to our school's mission of fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.
Your Impact Will Be
In this critical role, you will elevate the quality of education and support services at Riverbend Prep. Your expertise will guide our school in implementing best practices for students with exceptional needs, fostering an environment where every student can thrive. By facilitating collaboration among educators, students, and families, you will empower our community to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation:
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Ensure that IEPs are aligned with state and federal regulations and reflect the unique needs of each student.
  • Monitor the implementation of IEPs and make adjustments as necessary to support student progress.
Student Evaluation and Assessment:
  • Coordinate the evaluation and assessment process for students referred for special education services.
  • Conduct or facilitate assessments to determine eligibility for special education services.
  • Interpret assessment results and provide recommendations for appropriate interventions and support services.
Collaboration and Consultation:
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents/guardians to support the inclusion of students with special needs in the general education setting.
  • Provide consultation and support to teachers regarding instructional strategies, accommodations, and modifications to meet the needs of exceptional students.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between school personnel, parents/guardians, and external service providers.
Staff Training and Professional Development:
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for school staff on topics related to special education laws, best practices, and instructional strategies.
  • Support the implementation of evidence-based practices and interventions to improve outcomes for students with special needs.
Compliance and Reporting:
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations governing special education services, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to the identification, placement, and progress of students receiving special education services.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to district and state agencies as necessary.
Parent/Guardian Engagement:
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians to develop IEPs and address concerns related to their child's education.
  • Provide information and resources to support parents/guardians in understanding their rights and advocating for their child's needs within the educational system
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher and special education license
  • Previous experience as a special education teacher is preferred
  • Deep understanding of SLD and other related disorders
  • Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
  • Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
