West Power Energy is looking for an entry level Transmission Line Engineer to join our team in our Arcadia, California office. In this position, you will design or assist in various transmission and distribution line projects focused on teamwork, continuous improvement, and delivering quality designs to clients. You will work with a dynamic team, partnering with utilities to design a safe and reliable grid to meet future clean energy objectives. The primary duties include:

• Routing and design of Transmission/Distribution lines utilizing Power Line Systems (PLS) software, PLS-CADD
• Modeling existing lines and poles using PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole
• Develop design criteria/basis and specifications for the transmission and distribution line design and procurement of materials
• Develop project cost estimating and quality control reviews
• Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing construction documents including plan and profile drawings, structure loading trees, and foundation and assembly drawings
• Assist the Engineer of Record in preparing specifications and project design criteria
• Provide construction support for transmission/distribution line project
• Work collaboratively in a team environment and attend internal/external meetings to support processes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited college
• Engineer in Training Certification required or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
• Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in a team environment and a variety of situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Ability to perform work safely and effectively
• Ability to work productively and meet deadlines timely
• Proficiency with MS Office applications
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel

Preferred Qualifications

• Related engineering, internship, or co-op experience in the Transmission & Distribution field
• Experience using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS TOWER
• Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318
• 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher

This position's base salary range approximation is $75K - $90K, depending on numerous factors such as applicable experience, skills, knowledge, credentials, geographical location, etc.
