JOB OVERVIEW:

This position will manage and provide on-site supervision of all working craft and technical leads who are building the foundation, piles, racks and modules to construct ground based solar projects. They will ensure a safe, productive, and quality job is attained and costs are controlled in the construction discipline. The Foreman will be responsible for independent decision making without the availability of other supervision. The Foreman will schedule all labor, materials, tools, equipment within their work discipline and effectively utilize all resources. The Foreman is the individual who ensures work is completed in accordance to the specifications and contract requirements.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Supervise and set direction for mechanical craft and technical leads on-site to ensure best use of all company resources; and adherence to all company policies and state and federal regulations. Provides formal coaching feedback to tradesmen.
  • Schedule equipment, materials and tools to effectively utilize all resources and to maximize production and minimize costs after becoming familiar with scope of work and site conditions. Collaborates with the Trade Superintendent on all scheduled activities.
  • Manages, coaches, trains and implements standardized Work Plans and Work Methods. Assists Trade Superintendent in process improvement efforts.
  • Manages and is responsible for safe working conditions and safety procedures on the project, more particularly for mechanical and civil. Understands and enforces company, jobsite specific, federal, and state safety regulations on site and addresses any concerns with the Trade Superintendent. Will be responsible within work discipline for the utilization of best safety practices: the management of employee training for work methods, emphasis on special risks, cranes, lifting, DOT requirements, site conditions, telehandlers, JHA’s, accident injury management, electrical safety hazard, LOTO, arc flash (all as apply).
  • Communicates with the Trade Superintendent to update him/her on project problem areas and the specific status of the project. Collaborates with the Trade Superintendent to plan and staff (hiring, promoting, disciplining, terminating) trade employees through the proper utilization of company resources, processes and policies.
  • Conducts oneself with professional and respectful demeanor while interacting with all internal and external individuals. The Foreman is expected to create a collaborative environment with front line supervision, craft, subcontractors, vendors, and the Owner to continually improve the company’s delivery performance.
  • Compares labor and equipment production and efficiency to the job estimate for specific discipline and informs the Trade Superintendent of cost over-runs and the utilization of company resources.
  • Foreman is accountable for verifying that the project construction activities and project engineering are in conformance with the project Quality Plan, and Work Methods. General Foremen are responsible for establishing, aligning, and communicating the project specifications and craftsmanship expectations to all craft workers, vendors, subcontractors, and other agents.
  • Mentors other professional positions on work discipline, production costs, scope of work, quality, and safety.
  • Understands scope of work per the contract.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
  • Maintain crew and equipment matrixes, comparing information back to established Work Plans and updating Operations Analysis as needed
  • Familiarize themselves with site conditions.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1 to 3 years experience in mechanical installations for ground based solar projects, including at least 1 year managing craft employees.
  • Must have a valid driver license and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record (MVR).
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with DTEC’s drug and alcohol policy at all times.
  • Safety Certifications appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to manage and supervise multiple employees.
  • Thorough knowledge of tools and equipment uses and limitations.
  • Good communication skills to deal with owners and employees.
  • Relocation to community of project site is required.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents.
  • Knows and understands the required federal and state codes for the project.
  • Must be physically able to perform the job requirements and able to work in both the office environment and on site, outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Partial travel is anticipated and required, although the majority of our projects are in Colorado.

Anticipated Salary Range: $75,000 to $110,000

Benefits: 100% of the employee health insurance premium is company paid, with Dental and Vision optionally available at the employee cost.
