Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Research Study Assistant - Dept. of Emergency Medicine at its Detroit campus location.

JobPurpose:
The Research Study Assistant recruits potentialresearch study participants and provides education relating to the research study.Follows protocols, collects, processes and analyzes research data, ensuringaccuracy and completeness.
EssentialFunctions:
-Recruits potential research study participants. Provides research study information and explains research protocol. Obtains informed consents from potential research study participants.
-Collects data from potential research study participants by conducting interviews, providing questionnaires and tests and/or reviewing and extracting data from health and medical records. Ensures completeness and accuracy of data collected. Compiles, tabulates and/or codes participant data and enters into database. Updates database as necessary.
-Follows-up with research study participants by conducting phone calls and/or face-to-face visits. Provides additional research information, resolves any data inaccuracies and collects samples as appropriate to study.
-Assists with collecting, tracking, reviewing, analyzing and summarizing research data. Creates reports, tables, charts, graphs and/or presentations. Communicates research information to appropriate parties. May assist with writing/preparing portions of grant applications and providing input to scientific papers and publications.
-Completes all documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws and research protocols.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education: High school completion (or GED)
Bachelor’s degree in a science related fieldpreferred.
Experience: Entry level (no prior job-related work experience)
Research related experience preferred.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities:
Ability to empathetically, effectively andprofessionally communicate verbally and in writing to a diverse population. Ability to speak, read and write fluentEnglish. Ability to clearly and effectively present information one-on-one andin groups. Working knowledge of database software. Ability to accurately compileand analyze complex data sets and create and update spreadsheets, graphs and presentationsbased on data.

Travel to off-campus sites may be required. Some evening and weekend hours required.
