Company Description
Invasive species like Zebra Mussels, Starry Stonewort, and other AIS are creating high risks of devastating recreational boating, swimming, and fishing in counties and cities throughout the state. Waterfront Restoration's mission is to preserve Minnesota lakes and protect them from these invasive species and other AIS threats.
Job Description
The Watercraft Inspector position serves to inspect, inform and educate the public to the threats of ecologically harmful aquatic invasive species to Minnesota's waters. Inspectors will complete training of MN DNR protocols, and will be authorized to enforce MN State Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) laws while performing thorough inspections on all incoming or outgoing watercraft at Riley, Red Rock and Mitchell Lakes in Eden Prairie, MN. Inspectors will work at public water access sites conducting a brief survey while inspecting watercraft for invasive species. Other duties include assisting with postings and educational materials at access sites, invasive species removal, and other natural resource projects.
Full-Time and Part-Time Positions: May through October.
Weekday and weekend only positions available
This is a great job for students, teachers and people ages 55
Duties:
  • Educate the public on the AIS program and current issues.
  • Distribute literature/pamphlets.
  • Inspection of watercraft for invasive species (inbound and outbound).
  • Conduct verbal surveys.
  • Documentation of inspection activities.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices while inspecting watercraft
Requirements
  • Verbal communication and customer relations experience.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a professional setting.
  • Willingness to work odd hours and in adverse weather.
  • Willing to work weekends and holidays
  • Requires walking, standing, and moving about the boat launch area to a significant degree depending on traffic.
