Waste Connections US is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Seward, AK

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, has an immediate position available for a Heavy Equipment Operator at our Transfer Station in Seward, AK. The schedule is a 4-10 schedule starting at 8 am and ending at 6 pm. Wednesday through Saturday. Pay will be $20.50 per hour to start with regular wage increases.

In addition to running a forklift you will be trained to run other equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators, and the trash compactor.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders, excavators, forklifts, and other medium to heavy equipment in accordance with all OSHA, state, and federal requirements.
  • Regularly inspecting equipment, and performing minor repairs and maintenance as required.
  • Safety of vehicle, equipment, and load Moving waste from the Transfer Site collection area to transfer trailer in preparation for transport to the Landfill.
  • Ensuring all customer interactions by Operator are polite and courteous; may be required to greet, direct, discuss issues, and educate customers of onsite rules and restrictions.
  • Following all appropriate safety guidelines and precautions, wearing required safety gear, and always maintaining a neat and professional appearance.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to learn to operate the equipment and be coachable.
  • Some heavy equipment operating experience preferred, but not required.
