PRIMARY DUTIES

 
SUMMARY

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
To staff the front desk and complete clerical duties as assigned by the dean, business manager, and program coordinators.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Telephone skills (clear and cheerful voice), proper telephone etiquette
Be mindful of speed and tone of voice
Understand caller’s intent
Take clear messages, positive mindset

Ability to work with other student workers to complete projects
Problem solving
Know where to direct upset callers
Know when to remain calm and not combative or defensive
Does not feel intimidated by aggressive students or clients
Make good judgment calls
Technology
Having a range of basic IT skills
Learn to navigate website, internal WAU portal
Initiative Take pride in work
Approach staff to get more work assignments

QUALIFICATIONS

PERSON SPECIFICATION
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
  • Qualifications – Desirable: High school graduate; preferably current college student, or a college graduate
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Essential): Ability to grasp academic policies as outlined in the academic bulletin, typing, resourceful, and customer service.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience (Desirable): Excel spreadsheets, pie charts, customer service
Employees are responsible and accountable for:
  • Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control
  • Active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety
  • Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workplace
  • Correct utilization of appropriate personal protective equipment
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Answer main SGPS direct line and direct calls appropriately
  • Answer inquiries regarding SGPS programs
  • Schedule appointments for program coordinators and financial aid counselor
  • Record inquiries and inform appropriate staff for follow up
  • Making new files for regular and special students
  • Assist with archiving of files and records
  • Other duties as assigned
