Walters Wedding Estates is excited to make a new addition to our company. We are looking for a local team member who is hardworking and positive!
DESCRIPTION
We have a large property in Spring Branch located near the intersection of Highway 281 and Highway 306. All in all, we have two large wedding venues, three AirBnB style houses, and eight hotel rooms on our grounds. Currently, I manage our department and spend about three to four days at this property with another part-timer who comes in two to three days a week. I am looking to add to our team by bringing on a part-timer for 20-25 hours a week. I am aware that this advertisement will be seen by people as far south as San Antonio and as far north as Austin. I am looking for someone who does not have to drive an hour and back to get to work, for both of our sakes!
The key to success for our company and our maintenance team is to be present throughout the week to achieve sales-readiness every day. Our team in particular is focused on the days in between wedding events to accomplish larger projects, and routine beautification the mornings before a bride's special day. For context, in the month of April, we have 21 total weddings! That means we need to be smart about our off-day projects and attentive to the needs of the venue before the event starts.
The maintenance role needed during this busy season is centered around Saturday and Sunday availability. We are incredibly flexible as to which other weekdays you can work. Hours are also flexible, however, I generally don't like to bring people in for less than three hours at a time. I want to make your workday worth it for you. Due to the size of our space, we will always have something for you to do! I generally do not offer or advertise wage ranges, so let me be very clear about our expectations. The starting wage for this role is $19.00/hr. I am not advertising part-time with the pursuit of full-time hours. This is specifically a part-time job. If you are an applicant who is able to travel from our Spring Branch location to one of two other local venues within the same company, then I am willing to offer $21.00/hr for the additional work/flexibility.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Start the day be walking the property, picking up any trash left behind from the previous day's events or sales tours.
• Use one of the blowers provided to clear any ceremony space or walkways of leaves and debris
• Enter all work spaces and check for lightbulbs that are out, scuffs on walls, cabinet handles broken, toilets that don't flush (etc.) and any aspect of normal operation that is disrupted due to damage or wear, and remedy as needed.
• Inspect that our two large water features are operating to full capacity
• Assist with special projects to support sales-readiness, typically related to planting, gardening, and landscaping, but including much more.
• Communicate with facilities manager about items that must be purchased.
• Adherence to both our Maintenance Tracker app that outlines our tasks, while also being observant of issues that nobody else has noticed.

EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE

• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Previous experience performing maintenance tasks
• Semi-skilled in electrical, plumbing, septic and small construction work. Ingenuity and willingness to attempt on-the-job fixes, no matter the skill level, are highly prioritized skills
• Ability to operate power tools and landscaping equipment safely
• Ability to speak English
• Priority given to applicants that have and can legally operate their own vehicle (our property is big, you will need a vehicle to get around!)
