Carma Laboratories is Hiring a Quality Control Technician Near Franklin, WI

Position Summary:

The Quality Control (QC) Technician will be responsible for performing routine QC sampling, incoming inspection, and analytical testing activities in a fast-paced environment to support production operations.

Reports to:QC Laboratory Manager

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the cleaning standard and operation of Material Sampling Room.
  • Prioritize workload by scheduling sampling and testing activities to meet production and distribution plans.
  • Gather test samples using proper protective measures, aseptic technique, and an established statistical sampling plan.
  • Conduct analysis on raw ingredients, in-process product and finished product using internal test method/specifications.
  • Analyze raw ingredients and finished goods for organoleptic properties: color, odor, texture, appearance
  • Utilize analytical instrumentation and technical equipment to test product and material.
  • Coordinate the control or release of conforming and nonconforming materials.
  • Perform Out-of-Specification investigations and document findings in a report.
  • Perform routine laboratory maintenance activities such as cleaning glassware and ordering lab supplies.
  • Help maintain the retain sample program for raw ingredients, bulk product, and finished goods.
  • Cross-train within the Quality Control department to cover other functions, as required.
  • Support regulatory inspections by the FDA, ISO surveillance audits, or internal audits.


Required Experience, Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year applicable work experience.
  • Previous experience working in a cGMP/GLP environment is desired, but not required.
  • Previous experience with raw ingredient testing is desired, but not required.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word)
  • Multitasking and time management skills are critical for this position because of the fast-paced environment and the varied job tasks that are part of the position.
  • Forklift and hand truck experience is a plus.
  • Previous experience with FT-IR instrumentation is not required, but beneficial to this position.
  • Advanced organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.


Educational Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree (preferred) or High School Diploma with 2 additional years of quality control experience.

  • The employee must be able to lift 30 pounds and move up to 55 pounds without mechanical assistance.
  • This position will require the handling of heavy containers and pallets. The employee must be able to maneuver drums and pallets using a hand truck or forklift.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to bend or reach throughout the workday.
  • Employee must be able to sit or stand for up to 10 hours in a workday.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
