American Bureau of Shipping is Hiring a Sr. Mechanical Integrity Engineer Near Spring, TX

Job Description
The Sr. Mechanical Integrity Engineer will work as a senior technical expert on the successful delivery of projects for clients as a member of a project team within a market program (Asset Integrity Management Services). This role provides technical subject matter expertise on the evaluation, development, and implementation of Mechanical Integrity programs as it relates to the requirements of OSHA Process Safety Management element 1910.119(j). This includes providing technical expertise to the project manager and project team members with initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling and closing projects. This position also includes maintaining relationships with clients and key decision makers to help identify follow-on business opportunities and maintain customer intelligence.
What You Will Do:
  • Provide Mechanical Integrity program services for clients in the oil, gas, petrochemical, and chemical industries. These services include, but are not limited to:
    • MI program gap assessments and audits
    • Developing MI program procedures and policies
    • Managing MI technicians and specialist that perform:
      • Corrosion loop development and inspection circuits
      • Field sketching of fixed equipment and piping isometrics
      • Condition monitoring location (CML) placement
      • AutoCAD development of inspection isometrics with CMLs
    • Developing and implementing time-based and risk-based inspection (RBI) programs (e.g., API 580, API 581, semi-quantitative, qualitative)
    • Assisting clients with equipment deficiency resolution programs
    • Quality assurance program development
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers and technicians. Identify growth potential, develop training plans, provide feedback, and track progress.
  • Assist sales and marketing initiatives to drive growth of traditional AIM services (e.g., Risk-based Inspection, Fitness-for-Service, Damage Mechanism Assessments/Reviews, IDMS Implementations) and new initiatives.
  • Identify talent needs and work with HR and recruiters to develop job descriptions, post job openings, interview candidates, and make recommendations for strategic hires.
  • Performing the roles and duties of a project manager.
  • Provide technical expertise on project tasks to ensure quality services are delivered on schedule and within available budget to meet customer requirements.
    • Assist project manager with defining and sequencing project tasks, estimating task duration and developing a project schedule as part of developing a project management plan
    • Review project management plans to understand the scope, schedule and assigned work authorization
    • Provide technical expertise to support execution of project tasks
    • Develop briefing materials and write reports to communicate concepts and analysis results to client and end users
    • Lead research and data analysis, to include but not limited to assisting with conducting customer or stakeholder analyses.
    • Prepare written documents, reports, and presentations
    • Develop conclusions and recommendations, write reports, and assist with client presentations
    • Give oral presentations to clients
    • Tracking and report hours spend executing projects
    • Work with individuals at all levels, provide input to reports and other deliverables, execute multiple assignments, meet agreed deadlines, and adjust to changing client demands
    • Performing quality assurance on project deliverables
  • Develop relationships with existing customers to facilitate development of new business.
    • Attending client meetings to discuss technical topics
    • Meeting with new and existing clients to listen to their needs
    • Communicating client needs to project managers and supervisors
  • Identify new business opportunities with existing customers for current and/or additional services
    • Participate in marketing activities, conference presentations, technical whitepapers
    • Assist with proposal development including writing proposals, estimating level of effort,
    • Learn, understand and be conversant in ABS Group products and services
    • Review published reports and news articles about existing and potential new clients to identify customer intelligence
    • Networking to meet new potential clients
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
  • A minimum of a Bachelors Degree (Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, equivalent) or the equivalent in work experience and training.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience with wide area networking and telecommunications.
  • Experience in risk management, asset integrity management, mechanical integrity, and process safety industries.
  • Benefit, but not required: experience in the marine and offshore market.
  • Ability to promote and sell AIM (and ABSG) related services.
  • Self-driven and motivated, desire to scale and grow a business line.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports to a Manager, Director or Executive level position.
Salary Range: $140,000 - $175,000
