VulcanForms Inc. seeks a Director of Manufacturing Engineering for our Devens, MA location.

Job Purpose

As a Director of Manufacturing Engineering at VulcanForms Inc., you will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers, build a New Product Introduction team, and setthe vision for long-term success in this team. You will be responsible for working cross-functionally with executive leaders across the company to provide seamless integration of manufacturing processes. You will also be responsible for designing and creating manufacturing processes to support customer part creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Manufacturing Engineering for the all VulcanForms product lines; evaluating manufacturing competencies for vertical integration, working with equipment suppliers to deliver manufacturing lines, and driving design for manufacturing (DFM) at the earliest levels of product introduction/design
  • Responsible for defining, monitoring and continuously improving factory OEE and throughput while maintaining world class safety, quality and cost KPI’s
  • Organize the Manufacturing Engineering team to filter product introductions/first builds to the manufacturing facility and protect production (and the customer) with only sound processes being introduced
  • Partner with VulcanForms Digital team to develop, lead and own all systems on the factory floor from ERP and MES to hourly performance dashboards for operators
  • Define and develop MBOM and support a “plan for every part” with detailed operation & subcontract routing and strict change control
  • Lead engineering efforts to develop standards and procedures for VulcanForms physical processes
  • Lead the development, implementation, and process of manufacturing parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies
  • Design and create manufacturing processes to support customer part creation
  • Work closely with engineering, quality, and production to ensure manufacturing processes being built and improved upon
  • Build, manage, and lead a diverse team manufacturing engineers.
  • Foster strong collaboration between product, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of manufacturing principles
  • Work with cross functional engineering teams to iterate engineering design
  • Drive operational excellence and Lean manufacturing principles across the company
  • Provide support and direction on developing digital manufacturing processes
  • Drive New Product Introduction for the manufacturing engineering team

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience in the manufacturing of complex products with regulatory requirements (automotive, aerospace, defense, medical, etc.)
  • Experience leading from-scratch business workflow and system integrations across the design and manufacturing domains
  • Demonstrated experience building, managing, and leading a team of technical contributors.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple internal stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Lean Principles, Kaizen, and demonstrated ability in continuous improvement
  • Desired experience in metal 3D printing, powder handling, EDM
