Responsibilities:The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for documenting all activities performed in accordance with established policy.Observes patient behaviour, focusing on biophysical, developmental, cognitive, emotional, spiritual and sociocultural needs.Performs the secretarial/clerical aspects of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. The CNA must be able to prioritize and process physician orders accurately and within designated time frames; seeking assistance as needed.The CNA is responsible for the answering of patient calls, and receives, greets, and directs patients/visitors; records and delivers messages for patients/staff.Turning or moving patientsGathering medical suppliesBathing patientsGrooming patients by brushing their hair, teeth, shaving them, etc.Feeding patients and documenting their food and liquid intakeChecking vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rateAnswering patient callsDocumenting informationCleaning rooms and bed linensStocking suppliesAssisting with some medical proceduresSafety proceduresTransporting patientsTaking care of woundsSkills:Ability to work in high volume, fluctuating census environmentSubject to many interruptionsSubject to irregular hoursAbility to work in fast paced environment where noise levels fluctuate Education & Requirements:Current, valid CA.
